Taxonomy
Protorthisina simplex was named by Benedetto (2007). It is a mold. Its type locality is Ronqui Angosto, RA-1, which is in a Merioneth coastal sandstone in the Lampazar Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Protorthisina.
