Taxonomy
Triplesia girvanensis was named by Cocks (2008). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 200 m east of Newlands Farm in the Craighead Inlier, which is in an Aeronian deep subtidal shelf siltstone in the Newlands Formation of the United Kingdom.
