Rafinesquina (Hedstroemina) holtedahli was named by Spjeldnaes (1957). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bratterud, Lower Chasmops Shale, which is in a Haljala/Keila marine shale in the Arnestad Formation of Norway.
