Taxonomy
Leptaena segmentum was named by Lindstrom (1861). Its type specimen is RMS Br 31598, a valve (brachial valve), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Leangella segmentum by Cocks (1970), Bassett and Cocks (1974); it was recombined as Leangella (Leangella) segmentum by Cocks and Rong (1989), Rubel (2011).
