Taxonomy
Plectambonites transversalis penkillensis was named by Reed (1917) [lectotype designated by Cocks (1970).]. Its type specimen is B 44710 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Sowerbyella penkillensis by Jones (1928); it was recombined as Eoplectodonta penkillensis by Cocks (1970).
