Taxonomy
Myersiscus grossheimi was named by Danil'chenko (1960). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sulak River near Miatly, which is in a Chattian marine horizon in the Maykop Formation of the Russian Federation.

It was recombined as Pseudoscopelus grossheimi by Patterson (1993); it was recombined as Champsodon grossheimi by Bannikov (1998).
