Taxonomy
Lembicus meiklejohni was named by Jordan (1925). Its type specimen is SU 691, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Featherstone Quarry, Covina, which is in a Miocene marine claystone in the Puente Formation of California.
It was recombined as Ganoessus meiklejohni by David (1943) and Fierstine et al. (2012).
