Taxonomy
Hoploparia browni was named by Whitfield (1907). It is not extant. It is the type species of Palaeonephrops.

It was recombined as Palaeonephrops browni by Feldmann and McPherson (1980), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Feldmann et al. (2016).
