Taxonomy
Onychoplecia matutina was named by Cooper (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 117940a, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Near the school at the northwest edge of Pindall, which is in a Whiterockian shallow subtidal limestone/dolomite in the Everton Formation of Arkansas.
