Eknomocrinus was named by Guensburg and Sprinkle (2003). It is not extant. Its type is Eknomocrinus wahwahensis. It is the type genus of Eknomocrinidae.

It was assigned to Eknomocrinidae by Guensburg and Sprinkle (2003); and to Camerata by Wright et al. (2017).
