Taxonomy
Akelina akelina was named by Severgina (1967). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is River Akel, Kuznetz Alatau, Altai-Sayan, which is in a Tremadoc carbonate horizon in the Algan Formation of the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Akelina.
