Taxonomy
Bibio edda was named by Skartveit et al. (2017). Its type specimen is IMNH 9151, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Hrútagil (Mókollsdalur), which is in a Tortonian crater lake tuff in the Skarðsströnd–Mókollsdalur Formation of Iceland.
