Taxonomy
Scutella (Echinarachnius) oregonensis was named by Clark (1909). Its type specimen is USNM 153975, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Dendraster oregonensis by Clark and Twitchell (1915) and Howe (1922); it was recombined as Dendraster (Calaster) oregonensis by Kew (1920); it was recombined as Anorthoscutum oregonense by Grant and Hertlein (1938); it was recombined as Anorthoscutum oregonensis by Weaver (1942); it was recombined as Scutellaster oregonensis by Wagner (1974).
