Carnevale 2006 | Body oval; snout pointed, moderately developed; anterior mesethmoid face flat; posterior limit of mesethmoid extending beyond the level of the lateral ethmoids; posterior mesethmoid face unperfo- rated; vomer apparently toothed; ventral arm of ecto- pterygoid broad; six branchiostegal rays; 24 (10 + 14) vertebrae; vacant interneural space between sixth and seventh precaudal vertebrae; eight pairs of subequal well-developed pleural ribs; two supraneurals in sequential articulation with the supraoccipital crest and the first dorsal pterygiophore; upper portion of the first dorsal pterygiophore with two lateral expansions forming a definite groove; dorsal and anal fin formulae XIII + (19–21) and III + (17–18), respectively; 12 pec- toral rays; lateral line in high curved arch. |
