Taxonomy
Serraninus moravicus was named by Pauca (1931). It is the type species of Oligophus.

It was recombined as Leuciscus moravicus by Pauca (1932); it was recombined as Diaphus moravicus by Kalabis (1948), Kalabis and Schultz (1974) and Gregorova (2004); it was recombined as Oligophus moravicus by Prokofiev (2006) and Přikryl et al. (2017).
