Nannolytoceratinae was named by Spath (1927).

It was synonymized subjectively with Megalytoceratinae by Hoffmann (2010); it was reranked as the family Nannolytoceratidae by Zatoń (2010) and Tongtherm et al. (2016).

It was assigned to Lytoceratina by Zatoń (2010) and Tongtherm et al. (2016).
