Taxonomy
Parastrapotherium crassum was named by Ameghino (1902). Its type specimen is MACN A 52-526, a set of teeth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gran Barranca, which is in an Eocene/Miocene terrestrial claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
