Taxonomy
Longobardites was named by von Mojsisovics (1882) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-m Tr Ladi-l Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Longobarditidae, Longobarditinae.

It was assigned to Pinacoceratidae by von Mojsisovics (1882); to Hungaritidae by McLearn (1969); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Longobarditinae by Spath (1951), Tozer (1981), Tozer (1994) and Vörös (2018).
