Taxonomy
Ammonites strombecki was named by Griepenkerl (1860). It is the type species of Noetlingites.

It was recombined as Hungarites strombeckii by Fritsch (1902); it was recombined as Noetlingites strombecki by Hyatt (1900), Spath (1951) and Siegel et al. (2022).
