Taxonomy
Trachyceras hofmanni was named by Boekh (1873). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Vöröstó, which is in a Carnian marine horizon in Hungary.

It was recombined as Paratrachyceras hofmanni by Arthaber (1915) and Spath (1951).
