Taxonomy
Ammonites discus was named by Sowerby (1813). Its type specimen is BMNH 43942 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Clydoniceras (Clydoniceras) discus by Besnosov and Mitta (1993); it was recombined as Clydoniceras discus by Dietze and Hostettler (2016).
