Taxonomy
Franchia tlisiense was named by Besnosov (1993). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 115/1272 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tlisi, Dagestan (upper Tsudakhar Formation), which is in a Bathonian marine horizon in the Tsudakhar Formation of the Russian Federation.
