Taxonomy
Morphoceras subpatescens was named by Besnosov (1993). Its type specimen is VNIGRI 115/3069, 2612 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gerkez Mountain, Bolshoi Balkhan (top Meulam Fm), which is in a Bathonian marine horizon in the Meulam Formation of Turkmenistan.
