Taxonomy
Hastitinae was named by Naef (1922). Its type is Hastites.

It was corrected as Hastitidae by Jeletzky (1966); it was reranked as the family Hastitidae by Doyle et al. (1994) and Pinard et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Belemnitidae by Lang (1928); and to Belemnitina by Jeletzky (1966), Doyle et al. (1994) and Pinard et al. (2014).
