Barrandeops granulops

Taxonomy
Phacops granulops was named by Chatterton et al. (2006). Its type specimen is UA 13295, an exoskeleton (enrolled), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Zguilma section, Timrhanrhart Fm, Lower Bed, ZGEE1 , which is in an Emsian shallow subtidal mudstone in the Timrhanrhart Formation of Morocco.

It was recombined as Barrandeops granulops by McKellar and Chatterton (2009).

R. C. McKellar and B. D. E. Chatterton 2009Large conical tubercles hemispherical when worn and up to 0.8 mm diameter. Long, low eyes with 19 vertical rows of up to 6 lenses (but typically 4-5) per row. Short (sag.) glabellar profile appearing tilted upward and forward relative to eyes in lateral profile. Postocular pad present, with tubercles concentrated distally; distinct row of small tubercles skirting eye lobe below lenses.
