Taxonomy
Cyphaspis filmeri was named by Mitchell (1919). Its type specimen is A. M. f. 28600 [lectotype chosen by Chatterton 1971], a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Otarion filmeri by Chatterton (1971).
