Taxonomy
Lichas grayii was named by Fletcher (1850). It is not extant. Its type specimen is SMA 10258 [lectotype selected by Thomas 1981], a cephalon/head (cranidium). It is the type species of Platylichas (Rontrippia).
It was recombined as Platylichas (Rontrippia) grayii by Thomas and Holloway (1988).
