Taxonomy
Cardita subtenta was named by Conrad (1849). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Venericardia (Cyclocardia) subtenta by Etherington (1931) and Durham (1944); it was recombined as Venericardia subtenta by Weaver (1942); it was misspelled as Cyclocardia subteta by Hickman (2015); it was recombined as Cyclocardia subtenta by Hendy (2020).
