Taxonomy
Acanthopyge erbeni was named by Meischner (1965). It is not extant. Its type specimen is IMGP Nr. Go-548-1, a cephalon/head (cranidium). It is the type species of Rhenarges.
It was recombined as Akantharges erbeni by Holloway and Thomas (2002); it was recombined as Rhenarges erbeni by Basse and Müller (2004).
