M. Cossmann 1907 | Coquille de grande taille, à test épais, ayant la forme d'un Phorus, à surface lisse, et l'ouverture d'une Nérite, sans dents au bord columellaire ; base lisse et aplatie, un peu calleuse vers le bord interne qui est à peu près rectiligne, infléchi seulement en avant.
La spire élevée, conique et pointue au sommet, de cette coquille, son bord columel laire lisse qui se raccorde en avant comme celui de Vatica, justifient la création d'un sous-genre distinct de Verita. Il y a toutefois. un groupe de Nérites jurassiques (Lissochilus PETHö, 1882) qui a pour type Nerita sigaretina BUvIGNIER, du Corallien, et qui est caractérisé par son septum lisse ainsi que par son bord columellaire non denté ; mais ce sont de petites coquilles à spire courte et à dernier tour orné. Quant à Neritoma MoRRIs, c'est un genre à labre sinueux ou arqué, à forme naticoïde. Enfin Verito domus, dont le bord columellaire est également lisse, a la callosité basale bombée et une forme globuleuse, qui est bien différente. |
