Taxonomy
Calymene planimarginata was named by Reed (1906). Its type specimen is GSM 19608, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Ynys Galed, which is in a Longvillian/Woolstonian marine mudstone in the Dwyfach Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Flexicalymene planimarginata by Shirley (1936), Dean (1963), Whittington (1965) and Hunda and Hughes (2007).
