Gaffney 1972Baenids with wide, almost circular skull, broadly curved in dorsal view; temporal emargination relatively shallow; nasals not expanded laterally but extended anteriorly into short shelf; prefrontal with limited dorsal exposure; parietal larger than frontal; quadratojugal morphology indeterminate; triturating surfaces widely expanded to form triangular crushing areas, surfaces flat, with low, blunt lingual ridge and vestigial tomial ridge; orbits open dorsolaterally, ridge separating orbital floor from cheek; postcranium unknown.
