Taxonomy
Kinosternon rincon was named by Bourque (2015). Its type specimen is AMNH FAM13822, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Rincon Quarry, which is in a Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Santa Fe Formation of New Mexico.
