Plastomenus vegetus

Taxonomy
Aspideretes vegetus was named by Gilmore (1919). Its type specimen is USNM 8539, a partial shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is San Juan Basin (non-specific), which is in a Puercan terrestrial horizon in the Nacimiento Formation of New Mexico.

It was recombined as Hummelichelys vegetus by Chkhikvadze (2000); it was recombined as Trionyx vegetus by Vitek and Joyce (2015); it was recombined as Plastomenus vegetus by Lyson et al. (2021).
