Reiszia gubini was named by Ivakhnenko (2000). Its type specimen is PIN 162/32, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Glyadnaya Shchel'ya, PIN 162, Lower Mezen' River, which is in a Kazanian/Urzhumian terrestrial horizon in the Russian Federation.
