Wagima was named by Kruse (1987) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Tojo Sepkoski's reference number: 952,1006]. It is not extant. Its type is Wagima galbanyin.
It was assigned to Heteractinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Nuchidae by Finks et al. (2004) and Senowbari-Daryan and Rigby (2015).
