Sinzowiella spathi was named by Stoyanow (1949) [TYPE LOCALITY: Cienda Lmst, Pacheta Mbr, Lowell Fm, Ninety One Hills, Arizona. TYPE REPOSTORY: Unknown, possibly USNM or U. Texas.].
It was recombined as Kazanskyella spathi by Robert et al. (2018) and Ovando-Figueroa et al. (2018).
