Taxonomy
Balatonites rothpletzi was named by Salomon (1895). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Forno, Fiemme Valley (Latemar), which is in a Triassic marine limestone in the Latemar Formation of Italy.
It was recombined as Parakellnerites rothpletzi by Brack and Rieber (1993) and Vörös (2018).
