Taxonomy
Laqueus elongatus was named by Cooper (1957). Its type specimen is USNM 549309, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 17462, Gushichan (RS 349), which is in a Calabrian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal grainstone/limestone in the Naha Formation of Japan.
