Taxonomy
Glyptodon rudis was named by Gervais (1878).

It was recombined as Euryurus rudis by Gervais and Ameghino (1880); it was synonymized subjectively with Panochthus tuberculatus by Lydekker (1894); it was recombined as Neuryurus rudis by Ameghino (1889), Ameghino (1889) and Soibelzon et al. (2010).
