It was assigned to Lariosauridae by Lydekker (1889); to Neusticosauridae by Seeley (1892); to Pachypleuridae by Carroll (1988); to Pachycephalosauridae by Rieppel and Lin (1995); to Pachypleurosauridae by Kuhn (1971), Sander (1989), Rieppel (1993), Rieppel (1995) and Rieppel (2000); and to Notosauria by Sepkoski (2002).
