Taxonomy
Beryx kcli was named by David (1946). Its type specimen is CIT 10329, a dermal scale, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Richfield Oil Co. K.C.L. No. 1, which is in a Miocene marine horizon in the Temblor Formation of California.
