Taxonomy
Olenellus fremonti was named by Walcott (1910).

It was recombined as Olenellus (Fremontia) fremonti by Lochman (1952); it was recombined as Fremontia fremonti by Harrington (1956); it was recombined as Mesonacis fremonti by Resser (1928) and Lieberman (1999).
