Taxonomy
Plectorthis mazourkaensis was named by Phleger (1933). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mazourka Canyon, which is in a Whiterockian shallow subtidal limestone in the Badger Flat Formation of California.

It was recombined as Orthis mazourkensis by Langenheim et al. (1956); it was recombined as Orthambonites mazourkensis by Berry et al. (1979).
