Crocodilaemus was named by Jourdan (1857) [Sepkoski's age data: J Kimm Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Teleosauridae by Lortet (1892); to Pholidosauridae by Carroll (1988); and to Crocodilia by Sepkoski (2002).
