Cytheridea ehlersi was named by Howe and Chambers (1935) [Cytheridea ehlersi Howe & Stephenson n. sp. In: Howe & Chambers 1935]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Danville Landing on the Ouachita River, which is in an Eocene marginal marine horizon in Louisiana.
