Taxonomy

Tellina santana was named by Packard (1922). Its type specimen is UCMP 12310 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 2169, Santa Ana Mountains, which is in a Campanian marine horizon in the Williams Formation of California.

Diagnosis

Reference	Diagnosis
E. L. Packard 1922	Shell small, very thin, elongated, very nearly equilateral; posterior dorsal margin sloping with a straight line to the evenly rounded posterior end; anterior dorsal margin slightly concave near the beaks, then sloping in a broadly rounded curve, base arcuate. Beaks small; surface smooth, with indistinct, incremental lines of growth. Hinge unknown. Anterior adductor scar pear-shaped. Length of type, 35.5 mm.; height, 18 mm.; beak, 16 mm. from the anterior extremity.
