Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
E. Vlachos 2018Pseudemys williamsi can be diagnosed as a member of Emydidae and Pseudemys by the full list of shell characters listed for those clades above. Pseudemys williamsi resembles Pseudemys concinna in the presence of a short, viscerally-overlapped cervical onto the nuchal and short gular overlap on the entoplastron, but differs in the presence of an unnotched pygal and unserrated peripherals.
R. E. Weems 2023Nuchal with characteristic P. williamsi conformation. Costals and peripherals have a nearly smooth, dense external surface with prominent sulcal grooves that mark the borders of dermal scutes.
