Taxonomy
Protengonoceras neolobitoides was named by Robert et al. (2018). Its type specimen is ERNO-2121, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cerro Las Conchas, which is in an Albian marine limestone in Mexico.
