Taxonomy
Lima perplana was named by von Koenen (1897). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mungo River, between Mundame and Eliki, which is in a Turonian carbonate limestone/sandstone in the Mungo River Formation of Cameroon.

It was recombined as Lima (Plagiostoma) perplana by Dartevelle and Freneix (1957).
